Optician Needed
Job Title: Optician
Supervisor: Office Manager
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, occasional Saturday mornings
Full time/Hourly position
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assisting patients to select lenses, frames and add-ons by being knowledgeable in all aspects of ophthalmic prescription wear, optics and fundamental ocular problems and diseases.
- Overseeing the timeliness and accuracy of all prescription orders. Maintaining a good working relationship with lab personnel and vendors.
- Adjusting and repairing glasses. Trouble-shooting eyewear related problems and working with patients to assure comfortable glasses wear.
- Assisting in maintaining a quality inventory of frames, lenses and optical products. Overseeing the computer recording of frame inventory and helping with overall inventory control.
- Assisting with the buying of ophthalmic frames, sunglasses and other optical products.
- Maintaining the sales floor as an attractive sales area and keeping it well merchandized. Also overseeing the cleanliness of the area along with the frames and frame boards.
- Helping handle patients’ optical concerns, complaints, reorders and returns.
- Handling all credit invoices and assuring accurate vendor invoicing for cost control.
- Assisting doctors and office manager with other duties as assigned.
The optician must be an outgoing professional who is able to work well with people of all ages. This individual must be able to assimilate technical information and relay it to patients in layman’s terms. The optician must be proficient in working with optical tools and have the ability to judge glasses fitting issues and make necessary changes. The optician must have a good fashion sense and be willing to influence and direct the sales of eyewear for the benefit of each patient. She/he must also be able to work independently and efficiently, overseeing the overall delivery of optical products and services.

Front Desk/Receptionist Needed
Join our Colby practice at our front desk as our Receptionist!
This is a full time position Monday through Friday, greeting patients and answering phone calls.
Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Schedule appointments: gather patient information to create computer records.
- Check in patients: present office payment policies, HIPAA required paperwork, obtain or update crucial patient information including insurance information, maintain flow of patient movement with doctors and staff.
- Check out patients: must be able to summarize procedures and associated costs, collect patient payments, schedule upcoming appointments, check for accuracy of superbills, charges and recall information.
- Prepare patient superbills in advance of appointments.
- Schedule patients for related appointments with other professionals (i.e. ophthalmologists, etc.).
- Backup assistance to opticians – including assisting patients in frame and lens selections, fitting and dispensing of glasses and repairing glasses, being knowledgeable on all types of lenses and optical products to best suit a patient’s needs.
- Assist with various monthly office mailings (recalls, special events, etc).
- Filing as needed.
- Assisting doctors and office manager with other duties as assigned.
The receptionist must be a friendly, out-going, organized individual who assists patients, doctors and staff.
This individual must often multi-task while always maintaining the front desk as both friendly and efficient.
The receptionist is usually the first and last person the patient sees in our office, so she must view herself as an ambassador/ representative of the practice and be willing to be constantly energized to meet patients’ needs in a friendly, professional manner.
This position is full-time, Monday through Friday, from 8 am – 5 pm.

Optometric Assistant Needed

Vision Source of Colby is seeking an Optometric Assistant. The primary role of the Optometric Assistant is to assist the Optometrist and is involved in direct patient care. This position is full-time and, for the right candidate and if interested, may include responsibilities in a dual role as Vision Therapy Assistant (please see Vision Therapy Assistant job description).
What makes a great Optometric Assistant?

- Good technical and computer skills and typing speed of at least 50 wpm

What experience is required?
We are willing to train strong candidates. Helpful assets include a great aptitude for learning and a genuine positive outlook. Previous medical or optometric office experience is a plus.
